LOWER MAZE YOUTH 3 V 2 BALLYCLARE
Lower Maze Youth defeated a stubborn Ballyclare side at Glenmore last
Saturday; it was a match Lower Maze should have won easily but for some
tremendous defending and an outstanding performance from the Ballyclare
goalkeeper. The first twenty minutes saw Lower Maze totally outplay
their opponents and should of taken the lead with Michael Saunders, Karl
Wylie, Ethan Rathore Joel Richardson Ashley Beck and Ryan Graham all having
several chances each but it was Ballyclare who opened the scoring with a
breakaway goal, Lower Maze equalised almost immediately when Ashley Beck was
brought down in the box and the spot kick was slotted home by Karl Wylie to
bring the scores level and reach a personal milestone of 100 league and cup
goals in the Lisburn League. Michael Saunders made it 2-1 with a thunderous
shot from twenty yards but again Lower Maze were caught on the break with
Ballyclare levelling the score but the local boys weren?t going to be
denied the three points and pushed forward and were due fully rewarded
with Ethan Rathore scoring the winner with only five minutes left on the
clock.
Best for Lower Maze Ashley Beck Michael Saunders and Joel Richardson.

U14?s Lower Maze Youth 3 v 1 Loughside
Two goals by Ashley Beck and the third by Ryan Graham was enough to
seal the pints for Lower Maze Youth in this hard fought match at Wallace
Park last Saturday. Loughside started the best controlling the game in
midfield and soon made the breakthrough with a goal which more than a hint of
offside about it. Lower Maze gradually got into the game and winger Ryan
Graham was unlucky hitting the crossbar with a twenty yard effort. But it was
Ashley Beck from almost the identical spot levelled the scores when his shot
nestled in the top corner of the goal. Beck then made it 2-1 to the local
side with a simple tap in off a Ryan Graham shot which the keeper
couldn?t hold. Ryan Graham sealed the points in the dying minutes with a
thunderous free kick into the roof of the net from twenty five yards out.
Best for Lower Maze Michael Johnston and Ashley Beck.

controlled the match from the start and soon opened the scoring with winger Joel
Richardson heading home a thunderous shot from Karl Wylie which came of the
underside of the bar, Lower Maze continued to press forward and had several
clear chances before Ashley Beck extended their lead with a bullet
header from a Ryan Graham cross. Hollywood struck back just before half time
catching the local boys on the break their striker was fouled inside
the box and the resulting penalty was tucked away
The second half saw Lower Maze on top again and were guilty of missing
a host of chances, the best falling to Karl Wylie, Ryan Milliken Michael

LOWER MAZE YOUTH 2 V 3 SUNNYSIDE
Lower Maze Youth lost out to last years champions Sunnyside by the odd
goal in five in a pulsating league match played at Dromore last Saturday.
Sunnyside started best and after fifteen minutes opened the scoring
with a long ball which caught the Lower Maze defence napping their striker
raced clear to finish low into the corner of the net. Lower maze gradually
clawed their way into the game and started to put Sunnyside under pressure
with strikers Ethan Rathore and Ryan Milliken working hard to try and break
down a very well organised Sunnyside defence, but it was midfielder Michael
Saunders who finally broke their back line with a towering header which
the Sunnyside keeper couldn?t hold and Saunders followed up to blast into
the net.
The second half was end to end with both teams playing excellent
football both keepers had to be at their best with Sunnyside?s keeper denying
Karl Wylie with a full stretch save to push the ball round the post, Lower
Maze keeper Kingsley Beckett also pulled of two superb saves in quick
succession to keep the scores level, but with only five minutes remaining
Sunnyside edged ahead with their winger scoring from an almost impossible angle,
back came Lower Maze with the goal of the game with Karl Wylie and Michael
Saunders combining to split the Sunnyside defence wide open wylie`s cross
was volleyed into the roof of the net by Joel Richardson, but in the dying
seconds Sunnyside grabbed the winner and the three points with their winger
scoring again from an acute angle.
Coaches Stephen Beckett and Andy Milliken were disappointed not to of got at
least a draw from the match but praised their boys for a superb performance.

LOWER MAZE YOUTH 1 V GREENISLAND 3
Lower Maze Youth suffered their second defeat in a week to another top
of the table team Greenisland going down 3-1 in another close encounter
played at Suffolk playing fields. Greenisland started best and had Lower Maze
under pressure but were unable to break down the Maze defence marshalled by
captain Michael Johnston, Jack McDonald and Michael Saunders worked tirelessly
in midfield to gradually bring the local boys into the game but
it was Greenisland who struck first catching Lower maze on the break
their striker calmly slotted the ball into the corner of the net. Lower maze
pushed forward in search of the equaliser and came close on several
occasions with efforts from Ashley Beck Karl Wylie and Michael Saunders
before Ryan Graham finally found the net with a superb shot from a
narrow angle.
The second half saw the teams produce excellent entertaining football
as they both pressed for the winning goal and it came from Greenislands
top striker Michael McKee with two goals that would grace any level of
football the first a superb finish into the top corner from outside the box and
his second saw him weave his way through the Maze defence to slot home low
into the corner of the net to leave the final score 3-1 to Greenisland.
It was yet another great performance from Lower Maze with Captain Michael
Johnston named man of the match.

putting the Wanderers defence under pressure with some slick football they
carved them open on several occasions before finally breaking through when

calmly lobbed the ball over the advancing keeper into the net.
Lower Maze should have rapped up the game before half time but were guilty of some

Lower Maze Youth met Shankill in the cup at Suffolk playing fields last
Saturday and were unlucky to loose 0-2 to the Belfast side. Lower Maze
dominated the game for long periods but could not find the back of the
net, with the best efforts coming from captain Michael Johnston hitting the
bar Joel Richardson hitting the post and Karl Wylie, Ethan Rathore, Ryan
Graham and Michael Saunders all forcing the Shankill keeper into action.
Leading scorer Ashley Back also came close volleying over the bar from close
range. Shankill did however find the net with a goal in each half with two
good finishes from their striker Armstrong. Congratulations to both teams
who produced a very entertaining cup tie.
